You can leave immediately from a safe home or a permitted, charged ward.
Use the game's Log Out or Quit action. Sunshine Alley skips its 20-second exit countdown when you are safe at home, or inside an enabled, charged ward where you are permitted, and have no dangerous status effects or nearby enemy awareness. Being inside someone else's ward without permission prevents the safe-exit shortcut. Otherwise, let the exit countdown finish.
