The Portal Hub on all servers allows players to claim one portal to their main home base and personal portal network.

Select a portal with no name on it. Label your Portal with your in game Name and link it to a portal at your base

The portal at your base must allow for easy return to the portal hub. You may secure your base and other portals from visitors if you please.

The making of traps or one way trips is not allowed with any of your portals.

Because of this it is strongly recommended that the portal at your end is outside, and on solid dirt, or a floor immediately above dirt. Holes under the floor will become a trap if/when the floor resolves after the player arrives and an irritated Thane will demolish your building to release the player.

If there are no available Portals you may approach a Thane to take over an abandoned player's portal. This is particularly important on the Main Server as some players go quiet in between releases but do return.

Portals are taken on a “first come, first served” basis. If you desire a particular portal to be closer to a team mate then swaps/exchanges require agreement from both parties.

The portal Hub on progression also has access to the Boss locations. This is a Sub-Portal Hub on Main

And access to The Starter town, Haldor, Hildir and Community facilities that are not at the Starter town

Some players welcome visitors and delight to give full tours of their base.

Some DO NOT

On main there is a Sub Portal Hub of significant builds that welcome visitors

If you do decide to go visiting other player bases uninvited always be polite. Ask before you start poking around. If they are offline, look but do not touch. We have had thieves use the network to rob people (instantly bannable offense)

You do NOT want to look like you are doing or planning this. In particular do not attempt to open warded doors or any boxes - it is tracked and you will lose any welcome instantly even if you take nothing.

This is a touchy subject akin to giving tours.

Some players regard their network as the result of their hard work exploring the world, usually with deaths, and as such a precious thing that should not be just exploited by anyone who wanders through.

Others are only too happy to allow people to use their portals.

The Ease of access to the portals is usually a good indicator here. If they are easily accessible vs behind closed warded doors. If in doubt, ask. If the player is not on, then send a private message and wait. Good manners will often get access where just rocking up will alienate players.

Remember, if you have issues by using a players portals then you do not have the right to complain about it. e.g. you fall through the floor at the destination and become trapped, or it lands in a troll cave without a floor and you plummet to your death. This is particularly true if you used them uninvited
