Hold H to enter and exit enhanced build mode (keys can be changed).
ESC instant out of build mode (panic, combat).
A new build hotbar on the bottom of the screen for keys 1-0.
Hold Alt and Scroll wheel to cycle through different hotbars.
Mouse over any build piece, terrain actions, serving tray items and click any key from 1-0 to assign the operation to hotbar.
Mouse over any items, weapons, tools, food, and click any key from 1-0 to assign the item to hotbar.
Clicking weapon action equips weapon and turns off build mode.

Inside enhanced build mode, keyboard shortcuts works different. it's with building in mind. no more equip hammer before opening build menu, right click anywhere! or copy build pieces directly without hammer equipped. We know what you want in build mode!

Hold placement by clicking H, now you can move around and see how it looks before you commit. and of course, you can nudge the piece exactly 1m in all 3 axis with arrows and page up/down. Once you're happy, hold left mouse button to confirm placement.
Quick search default key N, again, no more equip build hammer, open menu, look for search bar… just N and start typing!
Quick search support very basic math, no more open calculator to calculate how much Iron your boat can carry.
Repair mode default key F (forsaken power disabled in buildmode, who needs Bonemass Buff when fighting doors?), hated the effort to equip hammer, open build menu, look for the hammer icon, mouse over to it, all that just to hold the hammer in repair mode without any annoying objects blocking your sight? Just F now, hammer equipped or not.
Mass Dismantle Mode: while in repair mode, hold CTRL and click F. Hold control while targeting build pieces to color them all. Click control again and look again to toggle the colors. When you are ready to take farewell with your base, hold left mouse button to watch it all turn into wood. (Only works inside permitted wards, limited number of pieces per round).

Outside enhanced build mode you can also create yourself a TODO list. simply CTRL+Click any items in the build menu. From there use -1 -10 +1 +10 buttons to adjust quantity.

And you can of course click directly on the name of the item to put it into your hammer right away.
Building pieces will decrease the counter.
