To retrieve items you must hold 2 buttons - Hover the cursor over the itemstand and it will prompt you - the exact combination depends on your keyboard mapping.

The range of items available to be attached has been increased as well - virtually anything is attachable.

Note that enchanted items - weapons or Armour that are attached may appear to lose enchantment when removed - to fix, place in a box, leave area, return and the item should load correctly when collected from box. In extreme cases of this infrequent bug you may need to close the game and restart to flush buffers etc.
