Welcome to the Main Server - This is also sometimes referred to as Sunshine Alley in the Menus
To get here you have worked through a Progression Server and defeated all the Bosses, after the last kill there, will be a message which tells you to interact with the public map table.
The Main Server is Eternal.
It is never formatted and re-instanced.
Anything you build here stays here, unless it is decided to manually clear it - See Abandoned Bases in the Wards
Enchanting is now available to you
Main Server is more difficult than progression.
Mobs have more hit points and hit harder
The Server is divided into Zones with Each Zone being more difficult than the previous one.
The Zones are concentric circles radiating out from the Centre of the Map, with the Centre being the Easiest Zone. But Even the Centre is more difficult than progression.
Mobs can range in difficulty up to 10 stars, though only 5 stars spawn without assistance.
The more Mobs you kill in an area will ratchet up the star levels of new mobs being spawned. - See the Respawn System for more details.
The Mobs may be tougher and hit harder, but they drop way more.
The amount of loot scales up as the stars increase as well.
The chance of a trophy drop also increases with the stars.
You are encouraged to Build on Main.
Please consider the location of your build. There is plenty of space. Take time to explore a bit.
An excellent way to do this is to use the outpost Portals at Haldor. This will get you a serious distance out from the centre to where you can launch your longship and find the perfect Spot.
Allow space for your build to grow, particularly if you envision a village, or a Fortress etc.- See the Inspire sites to see how much land can be easily consumed.
Do not build in resolution/Render distance of other player bases - Lag suxs.
Remember some people have excellent graphics cards and will have resolution distance set to Max - Allow for this if you run a lower setting.
A quick rule of thumb is if you could see their base from the edge of your ward, you are too close. Ignoring this may result in a Thane levelling your build.
Minimise the disruption to the Landscape.
Nearly everything respawns on Main, but dirt raised, or dug out, does not.
Wards and Workbenches are needed to stop respawning so if you do not want the rocks coming back and filling your base, have a ward. - See the Respawn system entry (to be linked)
